Vehicle Contracts Coordinator

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Vehicle Overhaul, the Vehicle Contracts Coordinator is responsible for the development and administration of vehicle and vehicle-related contracts for the Plant & Equipment Division.

This includes documenting technical specifications, overseeing procurement, researching new technology, forecasting future equipment needs, and implementing vehicle modification programs.

The position also coordinates testing of vehicles and related equipment, resolves delivery issues and addresses escalated warranty adjustment claims.

As the _Vehicle Contracts Coordinator_
you will**:

  • Develop and implement specifications for procurement contracts for transit buses and related equipment, parts and supplies; oversee testing of procured items.
  • Define technical specifications and monitor the bidding and vendor selection process for the procurement of vehicles and related equipment.
  • Conduct ongoing research and oversee initiatives or special projects involving purchase of new vehicles or upgrading of existing vehicles.
  • Handle escalated warranty claim issues and oversee ITS (Instruction to Service) process to determine and implement modification to vehicles.
  • Provide direction, guidance and supervision to Diesel Bus Technicians.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Journeyman Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certificate (Red Seal).
  • Attainment of a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation at the time of hire is desirable. Applicants who have not yet attained this are required to obtain within a 5year timeframe.
  • Experience working in a shop facility and/or with fleet equipment.
  • Experience in project management, procurement, sourcing, bid evaluation, and execution of purchase agreements, preferably for a large organization.
  • A good knowledge of business transactions and legal systems related to duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of dispute resolution, negotiations and claims procedures.
  • Ability to understand the technicalities including language of contractual agreements.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex technical findings and ability to summarize key findings to develop technical specifications and make recommendations.
  • Ability to identify enhancements to vehicles and related equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including outside suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands in a fastpaced and continuously improving environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem solving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Superior written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Experience with, and proficient using Microsoft Office software including, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing and providing leadership to staff, including previous experience with performance management and workplace diversity is an asset.

Condition of employment:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license, in good standing, and must attain a Class 2 licence within 6 months with inhouse training.
  • Must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada.
