About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as a Contract Administrator. The successful candidate will work on challenging and diverse tasks within an integrated team of design professionals by leading the contract administration and oversight phase of the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safety is a top priority in all aspects of the project.
  • Review, implement, and interpret the form of construction contract chosen for the project.
  • Monitor the performance of the General Contractor in meeting or exceeding established standards for safety and quality.
  • Provide guidance to the contractor by interpreting the contract documents, answering questions verbally, and coordinating the design team's response.
  • Coordinate the contractor's submittals, including shop drawings, and ensure timely completion of reviews.
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of the contractor's Payment Application and issue Progress Payment Recommendations.
  • Review, coordinate, and obtain Sealing Professionals Letters of Substantial Performance, Interim Occupancy, and Final Occupancy.
  • Process contract close-outs, including coordinating the design team's review of O & M's, as-builts, deficiency walk-throughs, and deficiency lists.
  • Provide oversight of reviewers on assigned projects, supporting the administration of the construction contract.
  • Communicate and make recommendations to the Project Manager, Client, and design team to resolve site issues.
  • Provide a public relations role to the public on construction projects, as required.
  • Prepare documents and maintain file management of project-related information, including correspondence, reports, and pictures.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in a municipal, rural, or remote construction environment.
  • Hold a CCCA (Certified Construction Contract Administrator) designation or related experience.
  • Be willing and comfortable traveling to remote project sites.
  • Have a working knowledge of local and provincial specifications, construction principles, techniques, and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions.
  • Be committed to working in an environment to understand and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Have the ability to prepare and interpret sketches and other similar material.
  • Have excellent knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry-associated standards.
  • Take initiative on tasks and coordinate with other members of the project team, obtaining and sharing necessary information.
  • Demonstrate organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills required to effectively handle changing priorities and project deadlines.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team and independently.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Have the ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Have working knowledge of critical path method scheduling.
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver's license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Be prepared for regular travel to project sites, potentially on short notice, within Manitoba and Northwest Ontario.
Education and Experience
  • Hold a technical degree, diploma, or certificate in the construction industry or equivalent in a contract administration role with supervisory responsibility.
