Technical Product Manager

Purpose of the Position:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with engineering teams to define technical specifications, review implementation progress, and address technical challenges.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for backend services, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
- Communicate updates, progress, and challenges related to backend service development to stakeholders and leadership.
- Develop and enforce schema definitions, guaranteeing data integrity and system reliability.
- Drive the creation and operation of highperformance, scalable APIs to support Lumio's growth and usage spikes.
- Collaborate with engineering, legal, and UX teams to develop backend solutions that meet market and user needs.
- Leverage a deep understanding of the full user journey and experience to inform the development of backend services, ensuring seamless and robust support for frontend clients and contributing to an integrated, endtoend product experience.
- Stay abreast of and recommend backend technologies, including but not limited to Firebase, Amazon AppSync, and Apollo.
- Understand OAuth and other authentication mechanisms to support secure access to services.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in technical product management, with a strong focus on backend services.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable, particularly if it includes handson work with backend systems and APIs in a cloud environment.
- Previous cloud development experience, especially with services like AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
- Proven experience with SOA, microservices, API design, schema definition, and largescale backend systems.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, ensuring support for both synchronous and asynchronous communication.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, with attention to detail.
- Experience leading crossfunctional teams in Agile/Scrum environments, with a track record of delivering highquality products on time.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders and work with crossfunctional teams.
- Knowledge of cloud services and realtime data synchronization is a plus.
- Certifications related to cloud architecture, Agile product management, or other relevant areas are a plus.
Additional Details:
- Location: Calgary
- Willingness to travel as required, some travel may be international.
- This position does not have direct reports but will work closely with development teams.
