This Opportunity:


We are currently looking to fill a Part time Permanent Support Services Attendant/PSW position in our Northeast region - Blind River.


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Assists clients in their own homes with nonmedical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
  • Personal care
  • Lifts and Transfers
  • Rising/retiring
  • Bowel and bladder procedures
  • Meal preparation and feeding
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Other light housekeeping duties
  • Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
  • The Support Services Attendant will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. days, evenings, weekends, and holidays).

Qualifications and experience:

  • Grade 12 Diploma is a requirement and/or PSW certificate
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living, or Client based care.
  • Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties.
  • Physical Demands Self Analysis required upon hire.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, including deescalation techniques.
  • Professionalism in dealing with team members and other service providers.
  • Experience with mental health and behaviour management skills an asset.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English.
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends

Driver's license, and reliable means of transportation is a requirement of the position to travel to and from client homes.
