Summary / Role Purpose

The Systems Administrator contributes to the business by providing reactive user and system support. This role operates within given policies and procedures, including the relevant Ansys Quality System procedures, but has a reasonable amount of discretion to take independent action. The focus for roles at this level will be to assist in the effective delivery of IT support and contribute on global teams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades projects
  • Analyze and troubleshoot VMware server deployment and virtualization issues.
  • Provide documentation on installation and configuration procedures.
  • Performs troubleshooting: resolves network, hardware and software issues with infrastructure and client systems
  • Routinely performs upgrades to the existing infrastructure systems
  • Deploys and maintains hardware and software in support of the business
  • Works with the business unit teams to support & administer systems
  • Participates in on-call 24X7 support as needed in the event of system outage or failure.
  • Collaborates with other IT functions on complex business requirements
  • Collect and provide systems analysis to engineering for future systems enhancement
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
  • Associate degree
  • Should have knowledge of both native Citrix Tools and consoles to manage and troubleshoot the Citrix environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate technical problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of computer system fundamentals
  • Aptitude for customer service
  • Understanding of operating system concepts
  • Ability to identify and remedy hardware and software failures
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Can be 100% remote
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Core competencies for this position also include effective time management, problem solving and time management, customer focus, a drive for results, the ability to communicate effectively, teamwork and organization skills
  • Experience in Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Heavy lifting is necessary as infrastructure components can weigh up to 50lbs
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies with experience in Vmware, Citrix, VDI and others
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, Routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies with experience in EMC/Dell and Pure portfolio
  • Admin experience with Citrix a plus.
  • Knowledge of Linux a plus.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting.
  • Has knowledge of supporting VMware Technologies - vCenter, ESX, vSphere and VDI
  • Experience with Dell/EMC hardware and storage
  • A strong experience and understanding with windows and Linux/Unix systems
