Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed permanent full-time Assistant to support the Human Resources department. Aligned with Northern Health's strategic plan, and in accordance with the organization's vision and values, the Human Resources Assistant, Operational Support works collaboratively and proactively with leaders of the assigned portfolio to assist in the completion of human resource and other management functions. The position is responsible for tracking education requirements for staff and assisting leaders to ensure completion in compliance with regulatory, legislative, and organizational requirements.

The Assistant monitors, tracks, and reports on human resource metrics, including employee attendance, workforce demographics, overtime, and vacancies; assists in ensuring accuracy of data by maintaining position level detail in collaboration with leaders, Finance, and Human Resources. The role assists regional departments in recognizing opportunities that will ensure consistency, collaboration, and increased efficiency in the delivery of services to Northern Health leadership teams.

The incumbent contributes to a welcoming, diverse, and psychologically safe work environment by establishing respectful relationships, modeling expected behavior, addressing situations where NH values are not demonstrated, and assisting others to do the same.

Starting salary will be approximately from $57,347 to $71,684 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Dawson Creek & District Hospital

Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full-service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical center for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include:

  1. Emergency
  2. ICU
  3. Day Surgery
  4. Respiratory Therapy
  5. Primary Care
  6. Acute Care
  7. Diagnostic Imaging
  8. Laboratory

Visiting specialists including Urology, Dermatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology.

Dawson Creek is surrounded by wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500 and provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000, helping serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000.

Diploma in Human Resources, Business or a relevant discipline;

Two (2) to three (3) years' experience including human resources experience.
