EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

To apply, you must be:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada with a valid Social Insurance Number.


Preference will be given to students enrolled in educational programs related to a Social Work Degree, Social Service Worker diploma, Child and Youth Worker diploma, or other degree or diploma in the social services field with relevant experience.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible to and under the Supervision of the Service Manager, the student may be required to:

  • Organize, coordinate, supervise, and/or monitor access visits between children and their family members.
  • Organize visiting schedules and book facilities (i.e. home, community, or office) in consultation with the assigned workers.
  • Assist transitionalaged youth in care through the provision of individual support relative to attending appointments and access to family and community.
  • Contact other social service agencies and health care providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback on clients' overall progress.
  • Assist with the service provision to children, youth and families involved with the agency in consultation with the assigned workers.
  • Communicate to individuals, families, community members and organizations the various services provided by the agency.
  • Communicate information regarding family progress, changes, and/or case updates to the supervisor and report any information that may impact the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Participate in case conferences and other case planning meetings and collaborate in the service plan with families.
  • Communicate information regarding families' progress, changes, and/or case updates and report any information that may impact the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Advise children and families of the agency's complaint process and report any servicerelated concerns to the relevant worker and/or supervisor.
  • Complete all documentation required within Ministry standards and agency time frames (i.e. contacts, case notes, recording documents, affidavits, and courtrelated documents).
  • Perform other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and Ministry standards.
  • Clinical knowledge of child maltreatment, child development, attachment and separation, and family dynamics.
  • Cultural humility in social work/service work practice with Indigenous children and families.
  • Knowledge of evidencebased social work/service work practice.
  • Familiarity with community resources.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Problemsolving, planning, prioritysetting, time management and conflictresolution skills.
  • Ability to represent the Agency in the community setting professionally and respectfully.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with a broad variety of community resources.
  • Must have the ability to always maintain confidentiality of Agency and client information.
  • Knowledge and competence in computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office, CPIN an asset).
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced work environment and to deal with stressful situations.
  • Ability to work with individuals who are dealing with mental health, addiction and poverty issues from an equity focus and an antioppressive lens.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.

HOURLY RATE:
$18.80/hr
