PWTransit Canada is currently expanding services and is excited to be operating Para-Transit services in the community of Fredericton starting in January 2024.


PWTransit Canada is an industry leader in the delivery of safe and customer focused transit services throughout Canada, currently operating services in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario.


The Operations Supervisor is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of transportation and the Fredericton area; perfect for an experienced and dedicated bus/ride-share/taxi/shuttle industry professional.

The Supervisor's primary responsibility is leading and mentoring a team of Para-Transit Drivers while also providing timely support and communications to our client and passengers.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to and supervise Para-Transit drivers
  • Ensure adequate daily coverage of services and monitor driver shift reporting
  • Maintain regular communication with the City and PWTransit management regarding service when required
  • Schedule and organize staff training to meet internal and contract requirements
  • Professionally deal with public, customer and staff inquiries and find diplomatic solutions for concerns
  • Report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the paratransit service internally on a monthly basis
  • Supervise local Dispatch/Call-Taking employees
  • Ensure operating procedures are adhered to
  • Take calls from customers (registered paratransit users) and book/schedule trips outside of regular calltaking staff coverage
  • Verify compliance (and coach staff if/when required) with various statutes and regulations
  • Dispatch and make temporary changes to driver shifts and vehicle assignments as required
  • Initiate emergency assistance procedures in the event of vehicle collisions or passenger injuries and initiate associated formal incident investigations
  • Ensure incident/collision reports are completed when required
  • Ensure all required paperwork/requests are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Offer suggestions to improve existing operating processes
  • Effectively deal with driver performance issues and/or forward concerns to management as required
  • Operate buses, on occasion, to assist with any service coverage required
  • Liaise with maintenance department to organize and preschedule, to the extent possible, vehicle maintenance activities
  • Coordinate delivery of trips to PWTransit's local taxi partner outside of paratransit bus coverage

Requirements:

  • Valid class 4 (or higher) driver's license
  • Clear driver's abstract
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
  • Negative drug and alcohol testing
  • Previous bus/rideshare/taxi/shuttle operations and supervisory experience
  • Experience in the public transit industry an asset
  • Previous employee training experience
  • Previous safety and COR audit experience an asset
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeNB and labour laws/regulations
  • Familiarity with Fredericton roadways and geography
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational planning, multitasking and problemsolving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to work with smartphone apps

Job Types:
