Job Overview

The Supervisor of Production plays a pivotal role in overseeing and executing the Production Operations within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for managing and documenting manufacturing and packaging processes in accordance with cGMP, SOP, and BMR standards. The supervisor will lead Team Leads and Operators daily, ensuring compliance with all operational protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise daily and weekly manufacturing activities based on production schedules in designated areas.
  • Collaborate with fellow supervisors to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of objectives.
  • Develop and conduct training for employees on manufacturing-related SOPs.
  • Ensure adherence to batch records, SOPs, and quality specifications throughout all processes.
  • Oversee the execution of scale-up, characterization, and validation batches, including cleaning verification and validation protocols.
  • Initiate investigations and change controls as necessary.
  • Utilize expertise to address both standard and complex issues within the manufacturing sector.
  • Operate within financial parameters, applying knowledge of profit drivers to optimize work processes.
  • Resolve routine manufacturing challenges through established procedures.
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm solutions that balance risk and operational excellence.
  • Foster alignment on challenging issues within the team.
  • Adhere to DEA Controlled Substance SOPs and report any violations to management.

Work Environment:

The role is situated in a manufacturing, production, or laboratory setting, which may involve exposure to:

  • Noise levels that could distract or impair hearing.
  • Fumes and vapors resulting from chemical reactions.
  • Unpleasant odors and airborne particles.
  • Potential hazards from moving machinery and exposure to various chemicals.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position include:

  • Regular use of hands for handling materials and effective communication.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and the ability to bend, lift, and carry items as needed.
  • Capability to navigate various work environments, including offices and production floors.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment requirements, including respirators and safety gear.

Educational and Professional Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, including granulation and mixing.
  • Willingness to work extended hours to meet production schedules.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of cGMP, SOP, FDA guidelines, and safety regulations.
  • A proactive approach with a positive attitude.

Experience:

  • A minimum of four years in pharmaceutical manufacturing is required.
  • Additional experience and advanced degrees may be considered favorably.
