Our busy Yorkville practice is looking for a new employee to join our dynamic team as an Administrative Assistant/ Optometric Technician. The right candidate must be friendly, outgoing, self-motivated, and able to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. This role consists of administrative duties and working directly with patients to perform preliminary testing on them prior to their eye exam. Previous optometric experience is not required but always an asset. Must be able to work between the hours of 8-5 or 9-6 Monday-Friday, some Saturdays and evening hours may be required.

Your Duties:

  • Checking patients in and out for their appointments. This involves verifying patient/ appointment details, taking payment and submitting insurance claims, and scheduling future appointments
  • Attending to patients needing assistance at the front desk while also managing a multi-line phone system
  • Responding to patient's inquiries in person, over the phone, and by email
  • Coordinating specialist referrals
  • Data-entry
  • Preliminary screening tests with patients
  • Teach new contact lens wearers how to insert and remove contact lenses
  • Educating patients on eye health-related issues
  • Provide top-notch, stellar service to our patients
  • Brainstorm and think creatively about ways in which to optimize each patient's experience
  • Communicate VEC's values with the interactions that you have with all patients
  • Work with other team members to ensure all patients receive exceptional service throughout their appointment experience
  • Display excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage your time efficiently
  • Innovate and share best practices with your colleagues
