What can I expect to do in this role?To plan, develop and execute social media communications that support and promote the Ontario Provincial Police. To effectively coordinate strategic social media relations programs within the Corporate Communications section.

How do I qualify?Mandatory

  • Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of social media platforms and uses for communication (i.e., Facebook, X, Instagram and You Tube) to conduct outreach activities. Knowledge of internet search engines to conduct research.

Knowledge of social media marketing and media relation theories, trends, techniques, strategies, and practices.

Knowledge of graphic design concepts, accessibility design and of word processing applications and graphics applications.


Knowledge of motion media production and associated hardware and software used in creating video productions, including audio/video equipment, player/recording formats, production equipment, editing and graphics programs and current developments in video production techniques, equipment and quality standards.


Knowledge of research practices, writing/editing techniques, grammar, punctuation and spelling, policies, writing standards, media/public information release standards and attention to detail to ensure quality, integrity and accuracy of communications products.


Knowledge of PC-based software including Microsoft office products: Word, Power Point, Excel, Access and Outlook and desktop publishing and graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat and Photoshop, to create social media graphic products.


Oral communication, listening and consultative skills to provide insight and advice, present strategies and develop social media communication plans that are innovative, effective, and meet client needs.

Ability to works collaboratively with team members, stakeholders and partners to achieve individual, group and organizational goals.

Problem solving skills and ability to recognize, understand, anticipate, assess, and resolve communications issues.
