Position Summary:

The Occupational Therapist will work within a client-centered framework, focusing on promoting health and enhancing daily performance through occupational therapy. Collaboration with patients and interdisciplinary teams is essential to provide individualized care effectively.

Position Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program
  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years working in an acute care hospital
  • Proficiency in various computer applications
  • Commitment to healthy working relationships
  • Ability to apply best practice modalities for assessment and treatment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Basic splinting skills
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of acute care hospital experience
  • Knowledge of community and resources available
  • Ability to work with diverse patient and staff populations
  • Familiarity with electronic documentation system

Position Responsibilities:

Patient Care/Assessment

  • Completes comprehensive assessments of patient abilities
  • Evaluates physical and functional status
  • Plans and revises care goals
  • Coordinates initiatives for patient care
  • Adapts communication skills effectively

Support

  • Provides direction and supervision
  • Evaluates patient progress
  • Ensures complete documentation
  • Abides by hospital policies and procedures
  • Participates in meetings and teaching activities

Assistance

  • Attends team rounds
  • Assists with equipment inventories
  • Performs other assigned duties
