HR Coordinator - Permanent, Full-Time

The Role:
As a valued member of the HR team, the HR Coordinator wwill support the HR department and ensure the smooth functioning of various HR functions within the organization.
What you will do
Talent Acquisition
- Proactively manages full lifecycle recruitment for all bargaining unit, parttime and volunteer positions.
- Act as the main point of contact for hiring managers as it relates to the recruitment process and escalates issues to the appropriate team member for response
- Sourcing recruitment channels, opportunities and posting positions (internally and externally)
- Scheduling and coordinates interviews
- Preparing and extending Offer Letters
- Track and reports on recruitment metrics (time to hire, turnover)
- Manages the student programs, including liaising with university/colleges
- Manages the Volunteer Program
- Works closely with the HR Consultant to coordinate new hire onboarding
- Ensuring the completion of all post recruitment activities such as new hire checklist, training, ID's, employee file management
- Responsible for tracking managers' completion of programspecific orientation within specified timeline
- Administers new hire training and ensures legislative compliance
- Assists in responding to internal HR related inquiries from employees and managers
- May assist with ad hoc research on matters of health & safety, legislative compliance, HR best practices, labour relations, legal trends, etc.
- Prepares routine correspondence (changes to status, confirmation of employment letters, etc.)
- Undertakes other related and/or delegated duties including meeting and event coordination and the preparation of meeting or other event materials
- Assist in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures in compliance with legislation etc.
- Supports Facilities Supervisor in ensuing a safe and secure building.
- Administrators access cards as a back up
- Point of contact should departments need ad hoc support in absence of the Facilities Supervisor
- Other duties as required
- University degree in a related field
- A combination of experience and education may be considered
- 12 years' experience in HR Support, Administration and Recruitment will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of recruitment best practices and procedures will be considered an asset
- Accuracy and attention to detail when performing a wide variety of tasks
- Ability to promote a positive work environment and foster employee engagement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to demonstrate a high standard in service delivery
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Experience in a unionized environment will be considered an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency with various computer programs (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively when appropriate
- Demonstrated respect for the confidentiality of employee information
- Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
- Proof of full vaccination against COVID19
