Project Overview:
Bechtel Infrastructure, alongside key sub-vendors Bantrel and Comtech, has been designated as the Delivery Partner in collaboration with the client, Metrolinx, for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project. This role involves working as a Delivery Partner in partnership with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario.
The project's scope encompasses the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems related to 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment. This work is executed by two major PPP Contractors, multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors, and two significant Progressive Design Build Contracts.
The responsibilities involve managing the Works associated with the program and individual construction projects.Job Summary:
The Joint Corridor Senior Planner will play a pivotal role in supporting the Lower Don Valley Civil contract (EW-3). The Planner will facilitate coordination between the Ontario Line South Civil works and the RSSOM contract works.
The responsibilities include overseeing schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan establishment activities. The Planner also contributes to project organizational and administrative duties, supervises the development and amalgamation of individual schedules into the overall project plan using the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
The Planner aids in setting project milestones, supporting the development of scheduling standards and procedures.The Joint Corridor Senior Planner will:
- Support schedule assessments
- Evaluate baseline schedules
- Offer reviews, analysis, and reporting during construction
- Directs program level schedule development and maintenance monitoring activities.
- Oversees the implementation of milestone schedules, engineering/procurement/construction closeout monitoring including documentation and planned maintenance activities.
- Conducts schedule reviews to ensure compliance with Client's expectation and coordinates the necessary level of integration among the major contractors.
- Performs and/or coordinates, collects, verifies, and integrates the work scope for all entities into the total project plan.
- Manages the preparation of subject-specific schedules as required.
- Offers support to the Joint Corridor construction team regularly.
- Supports development of scheduling standards and procedures.
- Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope and quantities between projects.
- Coordinates development of bulk commodity installation curves, integrates appropriate manpower requirements for each discipline/specialty relative to the overall project needs, and determines quantity and manpower levels to support the project needs and schedule philosophy.
- Directs schedule analysis/study and problem-solving activities, develops and interprets guidelines applicable to the analysis function, verifies consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility, and is responsible for issuing reports required by Ontario Line management and project procedures.
- Coordinates information input into specific studies, responsible for integrating activities and total work scope identification, evaluates study results, recommends conclusions for project team consideration and discussion, supervises/directs project schedule staffing and quantity reporting.
- Provides guidance to the Project Director on overall schedule impacts and solutions.
Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, along with over 10 years of experience. Alternatively, relevant project controls experience emphasizing project planning in the Engineering and Construction industry can be considered in place of a degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experiences typically involve planning and scheduling for heavy civil construction projects situated in urban areas.
- Skills include planning and scheduling functions, such as schedule development, control, and analysis both on-site and in the home office, establishing criteria for project planning and scheduling activities.
- Experience with Primavera P6 is mandatory, along with representing the client, and reviewing/integrating contractor schedules.
- Expertise in analytics and computer utilization, with a preference for experience managing heavy civil projects.
