The Centre provides a variety of settlement services, including information/orientation, language instruction, mental health supports and capacity building workshops, public education and bridging to employment.

About the position:


The HR Manager at Mennonite New Life Centre plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective functioning of the organization's human resources department.

Beyond traditional HR functions, this role requires strategic thinking, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to serve as a front-facing representative for employee needs and concerns.

The HR Manager will work closely with senior management to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the organization's objectives and foster a positive work environment.


Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop HR strategies aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and objectives.
  • Design and implement HR policies and procedures that promote fairness, transparency, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular assessments of HR practices and recommend improvements to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Talent Management:

  • Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions in collaboration with department heads.
  • Develop and implement onboarding programs to facilitate smooth transitions for new hires.
  • Support managers in performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and employee development plans.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure organizational compliance with both federal and provincial government regulations through streamlined processes and effective coordination.

Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee grievances, concerns, and conflicts.
  • Facilitate open communication between employees and management to address issues and promote a positive work culture.
  • Mediate conflicts and provide guidance on conflict resolution strategies in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs across the organization and develop training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinate training sessions, workshops, and other learning opportunities, both internally and externally.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives and make adjustments as needed to meet organizational goals.

Front-Facing Employee Support:

  • Act as a liaison between employees and management, advocating for employee needs and concerns.
  • Proactively address employee queries and issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued and respected.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in HR management roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector or a similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with employees at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking and problemsolving abilities, with a track record of implementing HR initiatives that drive organizational success.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software and MS Office Suite.
  • Certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
