Family Practice RPN/Medical Office Assistant

Casual
Hours will vary and are not guaranteed.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Competence and current Membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Current Professional Liability Insurance (RPNAO)
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check
  • Ideally 2+ years previous clinical experience, preferably in family medicine
  • Previous experience with an electronic medical record (EMR) program is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as demonstrated through interactions with colleagues and patients
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to work to full clinical scope

Responsibilities:

  • Answer and triage phone calls; greet and checkin patients in a professional manner
  • Schedule appointments, respond to messages, and perform other tasks as required
  • Assist with taking patients to exam rooms, taking blood pressure, chaperoning and disinfecting rooms between patients
  • Assist with setting up for minor procedures such as: IUDs, biopsies, etc.
  • Maintain uptodate calendars and schedules and patient health records
  • Complete insurance and other claim forms
  • Prepare, collect, and record payment of thirdparty bills
Maintain inventory of office and clinical supplies

Work occasional evening and weekend clinics (typically 3-9 hours per month)
