  • Summary
  • Under the general supervision of the Training Program Administrator, the incumbent is responsible to participate in and assist in maintaining a departmentwide training program specific to each group of employees, with an emphasis on onsite, handson training provided to new and existing employees.
  • Responsibilities and tasks
  • Responsible for providing all aspects of training and verify proficiency.
  • Record and maintain training documentation of all CMARC staff (mainly Animal Attendant and Animal Health Technician).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and liaise with other trainers regarding instructional design.
  • Selects appropriate training methods per situation (virtual, simulated, mentoring, on the job training, professional development classes, etc.)
  • Promote available training opportunities to employees and provide necessary information.
  • Conduct departmentwide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed.
  • Design, prepare and order educational aids and materials.
  • Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs.
  • Maintain updated curriculum database and training records.
  • Assist with the development of new husbandry and care SOPs.
  • Manage and maintain inhouse training facilities and equipment.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • DEC III
  • Three (3) years' related experience
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to identify gaps in skills.
  • Knowledge of various teaching methods and approaches.
  • Good knowledge of different animal species, research facility operation and Canadian Council on Animal Care guidelines.
  • Experience in a leadership role in animal research field would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbally and written).
  • French: level 3 out of
  • English: level 3 out of
  • Selfmotivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Be in possession of soft skills such as emotional intelligence, giving and receiving feedback, teamwork, change agility, problem solving, etc.
  • One year contract
