The Manager, Health and Recovery is required to work Monday to Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Housing Supports, the Manager, Health and Recovery is responsible for leading and providing support to the Health and Recovery Team at 65 Dundas East and supervision and support to staff of the Health and Recovery program.


Responsibilities:

  • Liaise and collaborate with community partners.
  • Promote harm reduction in the community.
  • Engage people with lived experiences and support developing, coordinating, and facilitating training of peer programs.
  • Participate in provincial and regional harm reduction network meetings and activities.
  • Build harm reduction partnerships within the Downtown East and supportive housing sector.
  • Support the daytoday health care and support operations at 65 Dundas Street East.
  • Have an understanding and experience in the intersections of mental health, substance use, harm reduction and health care systems.
  • Create programming and support in response to health care needs of tenants.
  • Facilitate access to low barrier health care supports, such as doctors, dentist, nurse practitioners, PSW supports and alternative or wholistic medicine including on site supports at 65 Dundas East and supports within the Downtown East.
  • Support the Health and Recovery team in meeting health care goals identified by clients.
  • Support staff to participate in case management meetings.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or certificate, or equivalent work experience in the field of Harm Reduction/Mental Health Support (required).
  • Minimum of five (5) years related experience in some or all of crisis support, substance use issues, mental health and harm reduction, health care, wholistic health care, trauma informed care and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, and the range and variety of approaches in support of mental health, trauma, and addictions (including medical and psychotherapy) an asset
  • Knowledge of nutrition and food as it relates to physical and mental health an asset
  • Understanding and experience in developing care models and programming that supports the social determinants of health an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in staff management and development.
  • Strong verbal and written English language communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to achieve results and desired outcomes; experience implementing service change and reform.
  • Strong decision making and problemsolving ability.
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate under pressure.
  • Demonstrable experience working with homeless, formerly homeless, and marginally housed people.
  • Experience with communitybased resources, quality improvement and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and work collaboratively with stakeholders and personnel from diverse sectors (public, private, nonprofit, communitybased organizations, resident associations, and community residents), multiple program areas, and cultures.
  • Superior organizational, analytical, problem solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize, take initiative.

- disciplinary team member and in collaboration with other community professionals.

  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a 'Clear' or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have uptodate vaccinations against COVID19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
