Admin Assistant Physician Pathology

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides administrative and secretarial support to the Pathologists
  • Enter billing codes
  • Transcribes reports, correspondence, other division materials as required
  • Answers phone calls
  • Photocopying and filing
  • Communication with other hospital sites for requests and consults
  • Packaging and sending out slides/blocks, receiving slides/blocks from other institutions for consult
  • Assistance with daily office tasks
  • Assist with cases going between sites, SJHC and SMH
  • Keep track of ongoing research studies in the lab when required
  • Communicate with Financial Analyst for billing purposes
  • Register specimens in the Pathology LIS (currently CoPath), track case send out and return
  • Mail reports
  • Digital Slide Scanning
  • Other assigned duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a graduate of a recognized Secretarial Program and/or have a minimum 2 years related work experience
  • Must have extended knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload in a fastpaced environment
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be customer service oriented/focused
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and constructively with other team members
  • Understanding and commitment to the Hospital's Mission and values
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance record and punctuality
