Location - Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person.

Position Summary


Upon hire, the immediate responsibilities of this position will include support for the Associate Dean Academic's portfolio, including EA support, communication support, and broad program support within the faculty.

The person in this position will be committed to continuous improvement, and ensure that the students, staff, faculty, and faculty leadership experience the level of service excellence that defines the University of Alberta.


Duties

  • Providing general administrative support for the Office of the Dean (e.g., compiling data, preparing documents and reports, maintaining records, etc).
  • Providing EA support for leaders in the Faculty of Education (e.g., correspondence, managing calendars, organizing meetings, booking rooms, etc.)
  • Providing program support (e.g., compiling data, updating manuals, maintaining information repositories, supporting accreditation activities, etc.).
  • Supporting special projects undertaken by the Dean's Office (e.g., centralizing faculty operational tasks, revising processes, organizing special events, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma is required. A Diploma in Business Administration or Management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the postsecondary environment, preferably within the context of the University of Alberta.
  • Excellent tact and professionalism to facilitate negotiation, conflict resolution, and handle highly confidential matters.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and effectively manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and pivot to rapidly changing demands.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with many types of stakeholders from a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong ability to demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to selfstart and anticipate the needs of the Dean's Office and its staff.
  • Ability to work both independently with mínimal guidance, and collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive, professional, collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strong administrative and communication technology skills, including advanced knowledge of the entire Office suite of tools, Google suite of tools, social media, web content management systems, and others.
