PROGRAM AND JOB PURPOSE:


Edmonton City Centre (ECC) Outreach is a program and partnership between Boyle Street Community Services and Paladin Security wherein outreach will work in tandem with Security agents at City Centre Mall.


The overarching goal of ECC Outreach is to support individuals who are frequenting City Centre mall and experiencing homelessness, addictions, and mental illness.

The purpose is to work collaboratively with ECC's security team to reduce the risk of negative interactions and outcomes between the community and security team.

The outreach team will create a co-learning environment for the agents, businesses, and patrons of ECC.

ECC takes a human-centered approach, assesses a persons' day-to-day needs and planning for long-term solutions as they work towards a better quality of life.


The Team Lead will directly oversee the outreach workers at ECC in their day-to-day work and provide onsite support directly when required.


Key Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Participate in hiring and provide ongoing support and supervision for staff.
  • Liaise with storeowners, community groups, residents, City of Edmonton, Homeward Trust, EPS, EMS, and other service agencies that interact with individuals frequenting City Centre mall.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to determine best practices and how to have a healthy level of coexistence, tolerance, and respect.
  • Providing direct outreach services to individuals experience homelessness
  • Facilitate and participate in educational presentations to the public, stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure all data reporting is completed within required deadlines.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings and provide debriefs and monthly supervisions.
  • Support partnership efforts with various agencies, including crossagency case planning and participating in agency and community events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Outreach Services Manager.
  • Deescalate and provide crisis intervention and support as and when needed.

  • Excellent case management skills, an expert facilitator, an effective communicator, and be able to nurture a culture of collaboration amongst diverse and competitive stakeholders.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, ever changing, often demanding, sometimes traumatizing environment.
  • Must be willing to work with individuals who experience many barriers and have a history or are currently experiencing a mental health crisis or/and addictions.
  • Will be fluent with the spectrum of government programs, community supports and other services available to those in need of support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Experience and Other Requirements:

  • At least three years of experience delivering communitybased services.
  • Experience networking with a range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of povertyrelated issues, trends, and services.
  • Completion of training in traumainformed practice and/or cultural sensitivity training.
  • Current First Aid
  • Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks (results will be reviewed on a case by case basis)
