MAJOR DUTIES:

The Innovation Technical Product Manager is responsible for managing R&D projects that involve mechanics, electronics, and software.

Once prototypes are completed, you will ensure the successful transition of the technology to the ATS business, whether that be the Systems or Products Group.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage multiple R&D projects leading to the creation of industry leading, hightech mechatronic products. These developments include mechanics, electronics, and software.
  • Projects are a mix of agile and/or waterfall depending which approach is better suited.
  • Lead project meetings and coordinate SME's ensuring key milestones are met and technology goals are achieved.
  • Play an active role in problem solving and prioritizing activities in conjunction with the team. Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with the technology development.
  • Oversee the project timeline, adherence to budgets, and ensure adequate resources are assigned to all tasks.
  • Once prototypes are completed, manage all the necessary tasks and activities required to transition a newly developed technology to the greater ATS business.
  • Helps to identify and develop locals SME's with the new technology such that the divisions can become selfreliant.
  • Collects feedback on technical changes and lessons learned then funnels those to the right teams for implementation.
  • Specific topics to address with the project plan include, but are not limited to: development, internal training, ability to quote or estimate costs for the technology, long term performance testing, operations readiness gap analysis and rampup plan, new potential addon innovations required to support the business, execution strategies for technology implementation, ongoing IP protection, sales training, manufacturing roadmaps, value engineering activities, transition to the products organization (where applicable), manuals, etc.
  • Maintain the initial product roadmap, provide input to help prioritize development opportunities with the innovation team
  • Support and promote the use of ABM tools as it applies to the product development
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adheres to all health and safety rules and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Postsecondary engineering degree, college diploma or equivalent. Completion of or in the process of achieving the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum five years of experience in the development, delivery and management of mechatronic technologies and products
  • You must possess organizational, problem solving and time management skills. The ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communications is essential
