The Opportunity:


The Technical Solutions Engineer is accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements in support of our portfolio.

The Technical Solutions Engineer will be accountable for partnering with key stakeholders to create solutions which are aligned with our Roadmap, leverage common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits).

Within the solution development lifecycle, this role will be accountable for solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case. They will also provide hands-on development during the detailed design, build, test, and deploy phases. They will be the main Developer responsible for the support and maintenance of our existing enterprise solutions. This role is a key influencer on new product and infrastructure software evangelism.


This position will work very closely with the Product Solution Experts Team (ERP Analysts/ Business System Analysts) to help resolve our internal customer's issues, improve system performance, and continually enhance the User Experience.


Key Accountabilities:
Solution Refinement - (70%)

  • Develop, design, and implement the appropriate technologies to support and improve our Enterprise solution, Support Democratization of information, and Champion improving enduser productivity.
  • Interacts with the business to discover business use cases requiring use of innovative technologies or current infrastructure in place.
  • Partners with other organizations to support innovation and solving Challenger roadblocks.
  • Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
  • Encourage enduser technical enablement of inhouse and acquired technical solutions.
  • Support research and prototypes initiatives.
  • Rapidly evaluates technologies and vendors for various use cases.
  • Reviews business requirements prior to the implementation of new technical solutions
Enablement and Upskilling - (15%)

  • Pioneer a culture of technical enablement throughout the organization.
  • Listen to and observe behaviour of internal and external customers to empathize with their needs and identify the problems that require solving.
  • Act as the Lead Advocate of our current tools, software and new products, internally to the IT Department and externally to the business.
  • Contribute to team rituals (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Demos, Standups).
  • Adopt Design Thinking methodology when building more complex solutions or products.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and third parties to assess and establish partnerships and build trust.
Strategic and Tactical Planning - (15%)

  • Keeps informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the organization, business partners, and/or customers.
  • Assists senior management with the direction and facilitation of IT strategic and tactical planning.
  • Assists in developing and managing a budget for technology, services, and personnel.
  • Lead in workload management to ensure an optimal mix of insourcing and outsourcing.
  • Provides periodic security assessments, firewalls, servers, and other IT infrastructure. Identifies strengths, weaknesses and provide recommendations for implementation.
  • Lead and contribute to the blueprint of the organization's product roadmap.
  • Pioneer the emphasis on focusing on the 'voice of the customer' and building a culture of usercentric thinking.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You Need To Be Successful In This Role:

  • Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree in S.T.E.M., Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum of ten years' experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 8 years of SQL coding experience
- .Net (C#) experience an asset

  • A mastery of a variety of platforms and programming languages would be a strong asset
  • Extensive experience with effective and efficient technical solutions development
  • Highly developed understanding of industry regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Experience with MS SQL SSAS environment is required
  • VBA Excel programming is an asset
  • Project planning experience with strategic development and Agile development practices
  • Advanced MS Office skills, indepth knowledge of Excel and other organization tools
  • Strong analytical, decisionmaking and project management skills
  • Detail and deadline oriented, with the ability to effectively prioritize and multitask in a busy environment to meet competing deadlines
  • Creative and effective problemsolving ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff to explain technical concepts and theories to nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage tight timelines and budgets
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
