Student Awards and Fees Clerk, Student Awards and Fees:

Required Position:

Full-Time Appointment

THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED AS ONE THAT MAY REQUIRE A DIFFERENT WORK WEEK AND/OR HOURS OF WORK.
The current Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (summer hours), or Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (winter hours). Upon four weeks' notice, the work week and/or hours of work may be changed. (This may include evening and/or weekend shifts.)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the administration of OSAP and various other federal and provincial loan programs, as well as scholarships and bursaries;
  • Respond to enquiries and provide assistance to students, faculty and the general public regarding OSAP, bursaries, awards and scholarships;
  • Participate in Liaison Activities (Ontario University fair, OSAP workshops) by preparing and delivering presentations/workshops on student financial assistance; participate in various recruitment activities;
  • Assist in the administration of different recruitment programs;
  • Provide service at the Fees counter, such as receiving fee payments and issuing receipts, balancing and preparing daily deposits and distributing and releasing scholarships/emergency loans and bursary cheques to students;
  • Assess fees for students and assist in the calculation of student refunds and in the data entry of manual corrections/adjustments;
  • Provide administrative support such as typing, filing, photocopying, responding to incoming calls, scheduling appointments and processing mail;
  • Perform other duties directly related to this position as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Three year postsecondary diploma in a related field (business, finance, etc);
  • One to three years of related experience;
  • One to three years of accounting experience and knowledge of cash and chequehandling procedures such as cash receipts, balancing, and deposits;
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of related software (Microsoft Office, Datatel, GroupWise); knowledge of Access is mandatory;
  • Experience working with the Ontario Student Assistance program (OSAP) and its related programs, as well as L.U.'s scholarship and bursary programs;
  • Knowledge of L.U.'s tuition fee structure and refund policies;
  • Excellence communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure;
  • Ability to work fluently in both official languages, French and English.
