Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Schools Dispatcher is responsible for the dispatch of drivers and providing accurate directions. The role also includes providing a high degree of customer service in a fast-paced work environment.
We are now recruiting for Dispatchers for the fall 2023 school year, with training to begin early Summer 2023.

  • Fulltime hours with some flexibility required from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM split shift returning 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday
  • Ensure dispatch and driver operations are in accordance with established standards.
  • Customer Service Calls, Recurring rides & Special event coordination.
  • Incident reporting
  • Dispatch drivers to various routes on a timely basis.
  • Alert drivers to road closures and other delays
  • Identify all runs and drivers active on routes are on time to ensure no students are left behind
  • Manage and pull a variety of reports as per the Supervisor's directive
  • Manage and assist with scheduling vehicle maintenance as required
  • This role is fulltime and operates yearround. It is not limited to the school year.

Requirements:

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • Dispatch experience within transportation or service industry or related education
  • Utilize radio to communicate effectively with all en route drivers
  • Excellent time and stress management skills
  • Excellent, strong proven customer service experience
  • Computer software experience in MS Office
  • Understanding of transportation company an asset
  • Possess a valid Ontario G license and be willing to upgrade to a B with full training at our facility.
  • Provide a Clean drivers abstract
  • Clean criminal record search
  • Computer Software experience in MS Word & Excel
  • Geographic knowledge of the City of Ottawa and surrounding areas
  • Bilingual would be an asset
