Reporting to the Manager, Safety and Airfield Compliance, the Regulatory Operations and Compliance Coordinator is a member of the Airside Operations Team.

This position is accountable for coordinating the Regulatory Operational Compliance portfolio programs, business plan, regulatory aspects, and third-party compliance interaction.

The position aims to support and enhance, where applicable, the Aerodrome Regulatory and Compliance portfolio.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Aviation SMS investigations, AVOP monitoring and ongoing development, regulatory document review, research, advisement, crane permitting, obstacle regulations, noise complaint follow up and monitoring regulations, stakeholder interaction on program development, interaction and involvement with wildlife personnel to mitigate aviation safety risks, reviewing RPAS operations to ensure operational safety and provide program enhancement etc.

Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:

  • Continual monitoring of Aviation SMS occurrences including the investigation and follow up of incidents to determining corrective actions.
  • Review of Nav Canada Publications
  • Hi Low charts, CFS, CAP and provide recommendations on behalf of Edmonton Airports to update these publications.
  • Working with stakeholders to obtain Airside Vehicle Operator Permits (AVOP) for D/A and D permitting which includes written test and providing practical driving tests.
  • Reviewing obstacle assessment requests and ensuring mitigations are in place for aviation safety.
  • Working with Nav Canada and RPAS operators to ensure the utmost in safety in regards to RPAS operations on and off YEG property.
  • Review and follow up on noise concerns from surrounding areas.
  • Assisting and coordinating NOTAM closures with projects and airport operations for various activities.
  • Updating various regulatory documents as required by Transport Canada through the Canadian Aviation Regulations.

Special Requirements:

You Have:

  • Working knowledge of OH&S regulations, Aerodrome regulations and Aviation SMS.
  • Airside operations experience.
  • Knowledge of CFS and CAP along with other Nav Canada Publications.
  • Knowledge of CNOP (NOTAM Manual).
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines while adapting to change.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in conducting business in a way that protects the health and safety of employees, customers, general public, and others involved in its operations.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain an AVOP "D" permit
  • Must secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal records check.

  • Possession of a Firearm Personal Acquisition License.
  • Incident investigation training.
  • Leadership training courses.
  • Pilot license.
  • RPAS basic or advanced certificate.
