Job SummaryWe are looking for a Counsel specializing in Regulatory Affairs. In this role, you will provide legal opinions on matters related to regulatory, safety, and economic frameworks applicable to CN.
Main Responsibilities- Provide legal opinions on relevant statutes and review contracts and tariff provisions.
- Represent the Organization before regulatory authorities.
- Fulfill advocacy duties by making filings and engaging with government officials.
- Offer cross-functional counsel across all CN departments.
Working Conditions
- Standard office environment with a regular workweek.
- Availability required on-call 24/7 for critical incidences.
- Occasional travel within Canada (up to 40%).
Experience
- 5 to 10 years of experience in a federally regulated activity.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with a strong ability for prioritization.
- Experience in the transportation or railroad industry.
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
- Member of a provincial Law Society in good standing.
Competencies
- Agility and ability to drive change.
- Business acumen and staying current on industry needs.
- Critical thinking and effective communication.
- Delegation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
