Job Description:

What You'll Be Doing


The Operations Analyst, Derivatives is a critical role whereby the analyst will be accountable for providing day-to-day support related to derivatives product trading at CIBC Asset Management.

The incumbent is accountable for the independent processing and notification of daily margin/collateral movements for listed and non-listed derivate products.

The incumbent will also be accountable for processing payments related to the life cycle of over-the-counter (OTC) derivative trades and reviewing OTC derivative transaction confirmations and amendments.

Such activities provide an essential control in validating the booking of transactions and documentary evidence of the transaction in the case of a dispute.

How You'll Succeed- Analytical and Audit Capability - Reconcile cash balances and positions of options and futures accounts with the broker statements.

Follow up with broker to resolve any related settlement problems if necessary.

Investigate and resolve settlement issues with brokers, custodians, traders and portfolio managers of Structured Investments to meet deadlines and avoid claims.

Prepare, instruct, and process margin payment/repatriation notices for accounts with listed derivative products (futures/options). Prepare, instruct, and transmit collateral trade instructions for accounts with over-the-counter derivative products (repos/swaps).

Review and certify OTC derivative trade confirmations received by our counterparty brokers (confirmations must accurately reflect information on the transaction ticket/booking of the transaction).

Investigate and resolve OTC settlement issues with external collateral manager, Head Trader of Structured Investments and counterparties.

In addition, you will be responsible for the operational process:
margin calls, process interest, maturity and profit/loss payments for over-the-counter derivatives (swaps and options).

Interact daily with internal partners and external parties in the course of reviewing and follow-up of confirmations and resolution of discrepancies to ensure accuracy.

Recommend and participate in the development of improvements to existing procedures and processes to increase efficiencies.

Assist with special projects (new product,systems) initiated by Structured Products team when requested and ensure all deliverables are met.- Collaboration - Work closely with your team to provide an excellent client experience.
