POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME, 37.5 HOURS/WEEK
The Rehabilitation Centre for Children requires a Clinical Service Lead (CSL) OT at the SSCY RCC office who will collaborate with the leadership team in Outreach Therapy to support and coordinate services for the Outreach Therapy Department. The therapist utilizes advanced skills, knowledge, and performs at a high level of independence as a clinical practitioner, consultant, and educator. Practices are in accordance with RCC policy and professional standards.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Director and managers of Outreach Therapy Services, the Clinical Service Lead Occupational Therapist:
- Responsible for the assessment and treatment of children on their caseload.
- Leads the development and delivery of comprehensive and high-quality services including collaborative program development and continual evaluation.
- Promotes good interpersonal relationships by modelling professional behavior and practice.
- Supervises the daily clinical service delivery and complex operational issues in a service area (whereby the nature and scope of the work performed, the size of the staff population supervised, and the activities occurring and the variety of issues/problems arising are of a complex and variable nature) requiring higher level of decision making, problem solving and judgment with considerable latitude to exercise same.
- Supervision of staff in the service area including participation in performance evaluation.
- Coordinates education for the staff.
- Organizes student placement.
- Develops and/or delivers educational workshops and resources for the program.
- Leads the development of best practice guidelines for the activities of the service in collaboration with managers/ staff.
- Participates in the recruitment and hiring selection process.
- Participation in continuous quality improvement, research, client, and staff education initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Baccalaureate or Clinical Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or approved equivalent.
- Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (CPM).
- Experience working in First Nations Communities and schools is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrates leadership qualities, and effective organizational skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong clinical reasoning, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice.
- Experience presenting education to groups.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the healthcare system including experience in: leadership, supervision, waitlist management, quality improvement, research, and development of evidence-informed practice guidelines – preferred.
- Experience developing, organizing, delivering, and evaluating educational events for adult learners - preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience working in pediatrics.
- Valid driver's license and car required.
