The Human Resources Generalist position is a full-time position in our Abbotsford office.

The Generalist provides day to day essential human resources programs in support of the organization's Mission, Vision and Values.

Critical Objectives

  • Develop and maintain company policies and procedures
  • Strong, outside of the box, recruiting abilities
  • Develop standardized annual employee review program
  • Ensure HR transactional activities/plans following company strategy
  • Ensure recruitment, onboarding and orientation activities meet customer expectations
  • Maintain a strong customer service relationship with internal and external customers
  • Ensure consistent employee relations service levels.
  • Development of retention plans for all staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Recruitment

  • Develop and manage recruitment procedures including job descriptions, job postings, and advertising.
  • Standardize the onboarding for all new employees across the company.
  • Complete reference checks and facilitate employment offers.
  • Enter new hires into the payroll system
  • Coordinate and host orientation sessions for new hires ensure that key onboarding milestones are met for all new hires
  • Track probationary periods for pay and benefits purposes

2) Retention

  • Design and develop mechanisms to enhance employee retention strategies.
  • Develop and maintain recruitment and turnover metrics.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and recommend action plans for areas of opportunity.
  • Maintain employee training and development matrix.
  • Succession strategy and planning for the longterm success of our company.

3) Employee Rewards & Events
We look to continue our focus on the care, development, well-being, and retention of our employees. Our people are our biggest asset and investing in our people is a key focus.

  • Plan and facilitate Company events.
  • Research, recommend and sustain employee rewards program.
  • Maintains recognition programs.

4) Administrative Support

  • Maintaining employee files, both paper and electronic (HRIS) ensuring files are kept current.
  • Assisting in the coordination of benefits paperwork and offering employee assistance when required.
  • Manage administration of WorkSafe BC claims, training, and legislation
  • Other duties assigned by the VP, Finance

Requirements:

  • Business degree or Diploma with a focus in HR Management or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in Human Resources with a focus on recruitment and retention
  • CPHR designation or working towards it is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and act under pressure
  • Excels as an individual contributor and active team member
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
  • Knowledge in Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Occasional travel may be required to our Victoria, BC office.
