Role Descriptions

OMERS
Pension Legal & Plan Policy Analyst

Toronto, Hybrid, On-site minimum once a week

37.5 hours per week

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research to assist in interpreting legislation, regulations, plan provisions and data
  • Document plan provisions or legislative/regulatory requirement in plain language to provide responses/direction to teams outside of Pension Legal & Plan Policy or external stakeholders on specific plan provisions, legislation, or regulations
  • Conduct policy analysis to assess and formulate opinions on the appropriateness and effectiveness of current processes, procedures and points of view with a goal of challenging the status quo.
  • Present, formally and informally, research finding or policy analysis to the team or external stakeholders to relay result of research/analysis to the team to help inform on next steps and decisions
  • Develop thoughtful and effective recommendations on a broad range of pension issues of varying complexity, and assisting the team to articulate the impact of recommended solutions to business units, including what problem does it solve and what is the overall benefit to

Qualifications:

General Skills and Abilities

  • Good written communication skills to draft documents and communications on Plan related matters
  • Good verbal communication skills to share ideas or relay analysis to the team or other stakeholders
Digital and Technical Skills

  • Basic Excel skills to analyze historical data for trends that may inform research on the particular case/situation
  • Basic PowerPoint skills to draft presentations
  • Basic Word skills to draft documents of findings from research/analysis
Education

  • Bachelor's Degree
Knowledge Assets (not required)

  • Ability to read, write, and speak French
  • Past experience in pensions
  • An understanding of legislative frameworks
