As the Pension Systems Solution Developer, your role within the Products and Technology team will involve understanding the existing architecture of the Pension Systems. You will be responsible for PL/SQL and Unix shell script development, as well as creating design documentation for development and testing purposes. Supporting architects and team leaders, you will collaborate closely with analysts, designers, developers, and testers, utilizing your leadership skills to deliver intricate designs efficiently.

As a member of this team, you will be tasked with:

  • Analyzing complex business requirements and generating technical specifications for designing software components and applications
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of OMERS' pension and financial business, as well as relevant systems and operational processes
  • Developing large and complex designs, ensuring the quality and timeliness of deliverables
  • Communicating effectively with team members to address issues and cross-reference functionality back to system specifications
  • Creating detailed design documentation and design artifacts for projects or change requests
  • Ensuring adherence to processes and standards according to industry best practices
  • Coordinating and delivering Pension System projects from creation of detailed designs to deployment into production
  • Ensuring overall quality and usability of Pension Systems design post-deployment
  • Assisting in testing phases for defect resolution and technical issues
  • Supporting in environmental and support issues

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong team player with exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • University degree (Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics preferred)
  • 5-7+ years of experience in SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting, and Oracle Reports
  • Experience with the PowerBuilder development tool
  • Solid knowledge of relational database management systems
  • Proactivity, results-orientation, and good time management skills
  • Ability to grasp complex concepts with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in IT tools and databases with a willingness to continuously enhance skills and knowledge
