About the Program:


Bridging the Gap is a unique non-formal educational program that seeks to bring together Indigenous and western ways of knowing in an urban context.

The program aims to foster relationality to the land and each other through culturally-relevant learning experiences that are offered with mainly elementary school classrooms and other educational/recreational partners.

The program strives to bring together Indigenous land-based education and western science perspectives.

Participants are given opportunities to engage in a variety of activities which may include field trips to local natural areas, in-class teachings, and implementation of schoolyard or urban gardens and outdoor programs.


About the Position:

Bridging the Gap is a program of Nature Manitoba and governed and supported by a steering committee.

The program is undergoing a period of planning and transition, and the program coordinator will have the opportunity to contribute to program updates and direction.

The Coordinator is a largely self-directed position responsible for:

- updating and developing programs appropriate to target communities
- facilitating programming for children and educators,
- building relationships and partnerships, including with Elders and knowledge-keepers
- building partnerships with community, knowledge holders, teachers, environmental and outdoor educators, and other organizations
- supporting program administration, including report and grant writing

The position is part-time to start hours/week) but can become full-time if additional funding is secured.
Starting rate of pay is $23/hour.
