About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Bridge Design Engineer to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our transportation business line, you will be responsible for delivering a range of projects for both private and public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of steel, concrete, and wood bridges, including highway and rail structures, from functional design to preliminary and detailed design
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, including cost estimates
  • Lead design/project teams, coordinating with other disciplines to ensure quality and timely deliverables
  • Prepare client reports, synthesizing contributions from various disciplines
  • Mentor and train junior staff
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
  • Participate in local engineering activities and associations
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, plus 6+ years of experience in bridge design and construction, with recent bridge design experience
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering technical projects, including new builds and rehabilitation
  • Experience with bridge condition assessments and load ratings
  • Experience with resident engineering and site supervision during construction
  • Participation in multi-disciplinary engineering projects, focusing on bridge design, with the ability to manage and coordinate supporting design inputs
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software and modeling, such as SAP and STAAD
  • Working knowledge of bridge design codes for highway and rail structures, including AASHTO LRFD, CHBDC, and AREMA design codes
  • Master's degree or PhD in Structural Engineering (an asset)
  • Experience directing small teams of engineers and technicians
  • Experience in consulting engineering, including business and contracts (an asset)
  • Health and safety responsibilities, ensuring a safe working environment for project team members
