About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Design Engineer to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our transportation business line, you will be responsible for delivering a range of projects for both private and public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design of steel, concrete, and wood bridges, including highway and rail bridges, from functional design to preliminary and detailed design.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, including cost estimates.
  • Lead the design/project team, coordinating with team members and ensuring quality and timely deliverables.
  • Prepare client reports, synthesizing contributions from other disciplines.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Participate in local engineering activities and associations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, plus 6+ years of experience in bridge design and construction, with recent bridge design experience.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering technical projects, including new builds and rehabilitation.
  • Experience with bridge condition assessments and load ratings.
  • Experience with resident engineering and site supervision during construction.
  • Experience participating in multi-disciplinary engineering projects, focused on bridge design, with the ability to manage and coordinate supporting design inputs.
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software and modeling, such as SAP and STAAD.
  • Working knowledge of bridge design codes for highway and rail structures, including AASHTO LRFD, CHBDC, and AREMA design codes.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Structural Engineering (an asset).
  • Experience directing small teams of engineers and technicians.
  • Experience in consulting engineering, including business and contracts (an asset).
  • Ability to undertake health and safety duties, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for project team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
