Posting Summary

Rutgers-New Brunswick, is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant for the Office of Academic and Advising Services, Undergraduate Education within the School of Arts and Sciences. The Senior Administrative Assistant is the liaison with University offices regarding administrative matters related to transfer students. Such offices include the Registrar, Admissions, and University Enrollment Services.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Organizes and manages major processes in the Office of Transfer Student Services.
  • Processes the tracking of new incoming transfer students on a semester-by-semester basis.
  • Processes course evaluations for new transfer students for possible transfer credit of classes taken prior to their arrival at the School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Processes pre-approval of transfer credit for continuing SAS students and process course evaluations for possible transfer credit for courses taken by continuing SAS students who did not obtain approval in advance of taking the courses.
  • Shares relevant information with other offices within the Office of Academic Services, including the Office for Nontraditional Students and Special Populations, and the Office for Academic Standing, Probation, Retention, and Assessment.
  • Directs the day-to-day work of graduate interns, and work student students and Transfer Mentors.
  • Ensures that the numerous phone calls, voice messages, and email messages are answered by this staff in a timely, professional, and accurate manner.
  • Directs and oversees the general administrative processes for the Office of Transfer Student Services.
  • Two years experience in an academic administrative setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, and computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years experience in an academic administrative setting.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, IMS , ImageNow/Perceptive Content, and various Transfer Center databases.
