Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Assistant II for the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Reporting to the Events & Program Manager Supervisor, the Business Assistant II helps to provide accounting and business support to her supervisor as well as the school's Business Managers and Department Heads/Directors.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:- Expands to include day-to-day accounting support, processing requisitions for events and other programs, payroll, and monitoring program account budgets.
- Provides assistance to the business services office on miscellaneous accounting and administrative matters as needed.
- Performs other related duties as necessary.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to accomplish multiple tasks within a reasonable timeframe with emphasis on prioritizing tasks with time constraints.
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word.
- Must have MS Excel skills and an interest in learning database management, including the ability to compile and analyze statistical data and reports.
- Other training is expected as software and applications used change and are necessary to complete job functions.
- Must be flexible with a "can do" attitude.
- Will train a motivated recent graduate or novice.
- Experience with Cornerstone is preferred.
- Individual interested in professional development opportunities.
- All Oracle and Cornerstone applications.
- Additionally, Microsoft office suite.
- Individual must be willing to learn new systems as they are introduced to the University and school for functions normally supported by the office.
