We are introducing a cutting-edge insurance platform that will transform access to insurance data through a unified API, empowering the entire insurance community to develop superior, personalized insurance solutions and customer interactions.
About Koru and The Opportunity
Koru stands out as a unique venture studio and early-stage investor supported by the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, a substantial Canadian investor. We collaborate with OTPP portfolio firms to establish ventures with a competitive edge. Operating in a dynamic, transparent environment, we focus on company creation from its inception, addressing customer needs directly.
Your Role as Co-Founder & CTO
- Lead engineering efforts and collaborate closely with product, design, business, and growth teams
- Set technical direction and oversee system development, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
- Drive decisions on speed to market, scalability, and architectural vision
- Select technologies, design architecture, and manage vendor relationships
- Define the development roadmap, track KPIs, and manage the product development budget
- Build and manage a skilled technical team
- Champion agile methodologies for iterative product development
- Cultivate a strong team culture emphasizing quality and innovation
- Stay engaged in code reviews and hands-on development as necessary
- Embrace uncertainty and focus on solving customer needs through efficient software
Your Profile
- Ready to take risks and drive innovation
- Extensive technology experience and proven leadership skills
- Versatility in technologies like web, mobile apps, SaaS, big data, AI, and ML
- Prior expertise in architectural design and team leadership
- Effective communicator and adept at managing remote teams
- Experience with agile and lean methodologies
- Passionate about delivering simple, effective software solutions
- Open to travel, including to Koru's headquarters in Toronto
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Business-to-Developer products or API development
- Track record of launching new products and building successful teams
- Previous experience in founding or early-stage startups
- Exposure to product management, design, or entrepreneurship
