About the Role

Koru's venture studio is incubating a groundbreaking startup that aims to revolutionize the insurance industry by leveraging seamless connectivity and open data sharing. As the Technical Co-Founder and Head of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical architecture and development of this innovative platform.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the technical team and drive the development of the platform, ensuring scalability, security, and operability.
  2. Collaborate closely with the CEO and Investors/Board to align on strategic priorities and make informed decisions.
  3. Own the selection of technologies, architecture design, and engagement with vendors to ensure the best possible solutions.
  4. Develop and manage the development roadmap, define and track development KPIs, and oversee the product development budget.
  5. Champion agile practices and foster a culture of iterative product development, responding to customer validation and market/team feedback.
  6. Participate in code reviews, write code, and design solutions alongside the development team as needed.
  7. Build a strong team culture that emphasizes best-in-class software qualities, including testability, security, scalability, and operability.

Requirements

  1. 10+ years of hands-on experience in technology development, with a strong background in software engineering.
  2. Exceptional people leadership skills, with 7+ years of hands-on leadership of engineering talent.
  3. Experience working across platforms and technologies, including web and mobile apps, SaaS, big data, and/or AI and ML powered platforms.
  4. Strong leadership and communication skills that contribute to an open and collaborative environment.
  5. A proven track record in managing remote and third-party teams across geographies and time zones as needed.
  6. Experience working with agile, lean, and continuous delivery approaches.
  7. An ability to embrace and reduce uncertainty through continual validated learning.
  8. A real passion for solving customer frictions through simple and effective software.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience working on Business-to-Developer products and API development, or Integration Marketplace experience.
  2. Experience in building completely new products from 0-1 and bringing them to market.
  3. Previous experience founding a company or as a first technical hire in a new startup.
  4. Experience building a team and technology from scratch through to some level of success.
