The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children (CREVAWC) was founded in 1992 as a collaborative venture between The University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College and the London Coordinating Committee to End Women Abuse.

The Centre was established in response to a federal study on the problem of violence against women, triggered by the 1989 murder of 14 women at École Polytechnique in Montreal.


Responsibilities:


The Implementation Coordinator will support research and administrative activities within the Knowledge Hub, which connects trauma and violence-informed health promotion projects across Canada under the direction of the Project Manager.

The role will work with a group of French and English-speaking BIPOC Community of Practice (CoP) members and project leads to establish relationships, identify themes, issues, challenges that can be shared with the larger research group.

The relationships will be developed through regular meetings (online and in-person when possible).

The Implementation Coordinator will work with the Research Coordinator, Project Manager, and CoP members to co-develop knowledge mobilization products, and will provide support for projects to identify common indicators and explore ways to document collective impact.

The Implementation Coordinator will work with team members to identify possible webinar speakers and other resource people. The role will also conduct literature reviews and synthesize scholarly research in both English and French.

Experience

  • 3 years

Experience:

- experience in coordinating research focus groups
- experience in a research administration role requiring French and English competencies

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes

  • Must be fully bilingual (English/French) to coordinate projects offered in French
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
  • Attention to detail and proofreading abilities in English and French
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University's events and activities
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Interpersonal skills to liaise with Community of Practice members, staff, faculty and other members of the Western community
  • Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
  • Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
