Position Title: Media IT Specialist

Status: Regular Part-Time Support

Hours: 24 hours

Faculty/Department: Faculty of Media and Creative Arts

Campus/Location: North Campus, Lakeshore Campus

Salary: Hiring Range (Min) $30.62 (Max) $35.50

What you will do:

FMCA's wide range of specialized facilities include Windows and Mac computer labs and suites, TV and broadcast studios, radio station and radio facilities, video, sound, and color correction editing suites, postproduction, 3D animation and motion capture systems, VR studio, eSports facilities, journalism studios, music recording studio and suites, theatre, and theatre production studios, and more.

Under the general direction of the Manager, Technical Services and as part of the Faculty of Media and Creative Arts integrated technical services team, the Media IT Specialist maintains FMCA's service processes and technical facilities, provides technical support and media services.

Responsibilities include the following:

- Providing Tier 1, 2 and some Tier 3 technical support to all FMCA customers

- Ensuring all FMCA technical facilities and assets are maintained and operational

- Installing, configuring, and repairing FMCA technology assets

- Deploying hardware and software assets - Assisting in AV system setup and operation

- Testing new technology and assisting in planning future technical solutions

- Providing excellent customer service

- Record keeping and logging activities in ticketing tool

- Completing technical documentation and information sharing with team members

- Maintaining and upgrading technical skills and knowledge on current technologies and industry standards

- Other duties as assigned

- The nature of the position may require scheduling of work hours to weekends or evenings at short notice

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

Education:

3-year diploma / degree or equivalent - Diploma/Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or similar that includes hardware, software, networking, and programming curriculum.

Skills:

Windows/Mac OS/Linux Operating System related training

Computer Networking Training

CompTIA A+ or similar

Understanding of Server, Virtualization and Database technologies Apple ACMT or ACSP Certification or similar

Experience:

Two to three years' experience in a technical support environment supporting various operating systems and requiring extensive hardware and software configuration and problem management. Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting both MAC and PC environments.
