THE OPPORTUNITY

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data manipulation, forest estate modelling, and resource planning; and
  • Contribute to projects managed by project teams in areas such as, but not limited to, ecosystem analysis, wildfire management, silviculture and forest planning, environmental and forest enhancement, forest carbon accounting, timberland valuation, and urban forestry.
  • Work directly with Project Managers and other project team members to meet client deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Conduct local and remote field work as directed on a diverse range of sites, with a responsibility for health, safety, environment, and community.
  • Execution of field programs for sampling and assessment of forest vegetative, soil, sediment, monitoring Seed germination in the lab and field.
  • Environmental monitoring including daily observations, inspections, and monitoring of
Lab nursery.

  • Manage research projects and ensure all stakeholders are kept uptodate on progress and outcomes
  • Coordination and supervision of contractors.
  • Calibration and operation, and maintenance of field instruments and equipment.
  • Collection of field data and observations and preparation of detailed documentation (e.g., monitoring data, field notes, site sketches, photographs, GPS data).
  • Submission of samples for laboratory analysis, field data and preparation of summaries for project team members.
  • Data analysis, quality assurance/quality control, and preparation of technical summary reports.
What will you contribute?

  • A bachelor's degree or technical diploma in forestry environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Previous environmental or consulting work experience is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, and Teams).
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license.

NICE TO HAVES

  • International forestry experience.

Salary:
$17.74-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Port Coquitlam, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
