    JOB SUMMARY


Reporting directly to the Project Operations Manager, the Residence Coordinator is responsible for the oversight and maintenance of the facility, ensuring adherence to residence policies and procedures, supervising staff, and maintaining a low-barrier philosophy, while ensuring staff and residence safety.

The Residence Coordinator works closely with other staff in the project, providing training, guidance, and leadership in collaboration with, and under the direction of the Project Operations Manager.

The Beacon Hotel is a single room occupancy building for individuals living with concurrent disorders. Residents have access to a clinical team, nurses and social workers to address their well-being.

Our supportive housing and low barrier programs provide refuge, services and advocacy for those who are homeless or poorly served elsewhere due to their physical health, mental health, behaviour, substance use, or involvement with the criminal justice system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The job includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback and evaluation, determining training requirements, orienting new staff, and maintaining timekeeping and attendance records.
  • Performs intake process with residents or participants, provides orientation of the site, and makes referrals to other programs as required.
  • Contributes to a collaborative working relationship and communication between internal/external stakeholders to; develop, manage and evaluate resident/participant care plans. Assists in the preparation of budgets for assigned programs and/or services, monitors approved budgeted expenditures, and maintains related records and reports.
  • Advocates for clients by problem solving in areas such as financial assistance, accessing community resources, and obtaining volunteer placements.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures for medication administration and storage, and ensures all medication sheets are completed correctly.
  • Ensures the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the residence. Contacts outside contractors for maintenance work as directed. Ensures the residence's inventory of supplies is maintained by performing duties such as contacting outside suppliers and following up on discrepancies.
  • Responsible for coordinating guest's visitors in and out of the site, maintaining lists of no longer allowed visitors and maintaining resident's frequent guest lists in accordance with sitespecific policies and procedures.
  • Maintains participants administrative records; health and care plans, financial/banking, rent collection, daily shift reports and checklists.
  • Reviews the logs and responds to any outstanding concerns from the previous shifts, as well as deals with issues as they arise. Takes responsibility for making sure that all necessary tasks are completed throughout the day in an organized and effective manner.
  • Reviews and maintains relevant documentation such as HIFIS, internal OD tracker, resident/participant files in Arcori, and other related data collection.
  • Listens and responds to community concerns, questions and requests in a manner that conveys respect. Responsible for deescalating adverse situations that arise, and reports these incidents to management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a minimum of a diploma in a relevant area, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Must have previous experience (two years minimum) working with marginalized populations, substance use and misuse, addictions, healthcare, and mental health.
  • Must have excellent deescalation skills and a proven ability to deal with crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Must have good coping abilities/strategies.
  • Must have good listening skills (nonjudgmental, patient, and noncontrolling).
  • Must have excellent communication skills, and a clear ability to discuss issues arising amongst the residents in a professional manner.
  • Must have knowledge and a practical understanding of Harm Reduction.
  • Must be able to work well with people who pose uniquely challenging behaviour.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
