About the role
Steer North America is looking for a motivated, self-starting, and collaborative problem-solver to fill our HR Assistant position.

This person will be working with our People team in support of our recruitment, HR, learning and development initiatives and deliverables, which has contributed to our company's ongoing success in the United States, Canada, and beyond.


This person will be a contributing member of Steer's North American/International Business Delivery Group, which is comprised of finance, human resources, marketing, legal, L&D, recruitment, facilities, and IT experts.

In combination, these disciplines provide us with the breadth and depth to deliver integrated and innovative solutions to the organization.

Our People team brings together a mix of international experts from various industries.

We combine our understanding of people, context, and function to deliver innovative solutions which helps to make Steer functionable, navigable, profitable, and enjoyable.


The HR Assistant will be reporting to the North America People Team and will provide greater support across the local and global People team.


The HR Assistant will:

  • Organize and maintain employment records
  • Be responsible for prompt and accurate processing of benefit enrolments and terminations
  • Work alongside the People team to ensure deliverables satisfy and exceed expectations
  • Provide general employee guidance and support in answering employee inquiries such as preparing employment verification letters, general policy questions, etc.
  • Assist with offboarding employees, such as termination paperwork and benefits
  • Assist with employment related data collection, upkeep, and analysis for US EEO, AAP, and FLSA reporting
  • Provide adhoc support in additional capacities, including, but not limited to, payroll, open enrolment, performance review cycles, and onboarding
  • Regularly review company policies to ensure federal, provincial/state, local laws and regulations compliance
  • Create and deliver internal communication for holidays, deadlines, etc.
  • Work alongside People Team colleagues to prioritize and deliver on new and preexisting projects


The HR Assistant will work in a demanding and enjoyable environment across projects in the fields of HR and provide wider support to our business in the deliverance and implementation of compliance reports, recruitment tracker updates, benefit enrollment data, L&D participation reports, and more for a wide range of Steer's internal initiatives.

Work Environment
All Steer employees seeking a full-time opportunity are encouraged to spend 60% of their time in office. A full-time employee's typical work week consists of up to 37.5 hours. For example.

9:00 - 6:00pm, Monday through Friday with 1 hour designated for lunch and breaks. Hours, expectations, and exemption status could be adjusted for any applicants.

Compensation
The salary range for Toronto office applicants are $50, ,000CAD.

This is a non-exempt position and qualifies for over-time pay at 1.5Xs the hourly rate after having physically worked over 40 hours.


In addition to base wage, all employees will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus, prorated to their contracted hours.
