Job Summary: Working collaboratively within their team and system-wide, the incumbent creates a welcoming, patron centered experience through the delivery of responsive circulation and basic information service. Supports library programming. Understands and supports community-led approaches.  Represents the Library’s vision, mission and values by demonstrating and modeling conduct that reflects the library’s policies and procedures. The incumbent provides clerical support to the worksite team and provides direction and guidance to the Library Public Service Associate I and Library Service Assistant staff in the absence of a direct supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Education/Qualifications: 
 

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by relevant courses and/or experience.

 

Experience: 
 

  • Considerable related library experience.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 

  • Some knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services and resources of the Library.
  • Ability to assess procedures, implement new or revised work methods and procedures, and to make decisions in light of established precedents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Strong commitment to serving clients; open, pragmatic and responsive to clients and community.
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to a clerical staff team; good team-building and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with integrated library software, and other software related to the work, such as Excel.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, applications & software, processes and skills. 
  • Innovative and flexible in a rapidly changing library environment with the ability to assist staff to participate in and be open to change.

Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time until January 4th, 2025
Salary: $24.88 to $29.13 per hour 
Current Work Schedule: 

 

Schedule 1 (22.5 hours)

Wednesday 12:40pm – 9:10pm, Saturday 8:40am – 5:10pm, Sunday 8:40am – 5:10pm

 

Schedule 2 (22 hours)

Monday 11:00am – 7:00pm, Friday 12:40pm – 9:10pm, Sunday 8:40am – 5:10pm

 

Schedule 3 (20 hours)

Monday 8:40am – 1:40pm, Tuesday 10:30am – 7:00pm, Saturday 8:40am – 5:10pm
