**Worksite**: Programming & Learning

**Job Summary**: Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Library Technician I supports and delivers programs, classes and events to the public, and supports the work of the department. The incumbent is a paraprofessional member of the Programming and Learning Services team and works collaboratively with colleagues within the Programming & Learning department and in branches across the city to ensure service priorities are met. They demonstrate and model conduct that adheres to the library’s policies and procedures in accordance with the Library’s vision, mission and values.

**Education/Qualifications**:
Completion of an approved Library Technician Diploma program supplemented by courses in the use of digital technologies or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

**Experience**:
Some related experience in the provision of library services with an emphasis on teaching, programming, and public speaking.

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Considerable knowledge of para-professional library methods, procedures and tools applicable to the work
- Excellent public speaking and instructional skills
- Working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services and resources of the Library
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with supervision.

**Salary**: $27.98 to $32.87 per hour

**Work Schedule**:
Weeks 1 to 3

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9am - 5pm

Tuesday: 12:30pm - 8:30pm

Saturday, Sunday: Off.

Week 4

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 9am - 5pm

Tuesday: 12:30pm - 8:30pm

Monday, Sunday: Off.
