Job Summary
The position provides support for the research mandate of the Postgraduate Residency Programs in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics at the VHHSC Site.

Organizational Status
Reports directly to the Residency Research Chair (RRC), Program Directors, and Program Manager.

Work Performed

  • Data entry of previous and research new topics. Correspond with new and old mentors in their interest in supporting resident research
  • Assist RRC with organizing research materials with residents
  • Communicate with residents to understand their research needs and to provide support
  • Assist residents in matching with a list of projects led by different faculty advisors
  • Maintain accurate records, research databases, and documentation related to research projects
  • Create reports using resident and faculty evaluation data and calculate performance indicators for the Training Experience Review Committee (TERC).
  • Participate in assisting the program goals to assess the efficacy
  • Compile information all on-going research projects based on committee discussions and action items
  • Assist the RRC with organizing the Jenkins Memorial Fund - Call for and communicate with applicants and reviewers as per RRC's instructions
  • Coordinate project schedules and resources
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to ensure project success


Consequence of Error/Judgement
This position must exercise good judgement and initiative to handle matters based on the knowledge of the UBC, Departmental and Royal College policies and procedures. New or unusual problems are referred to the Program Manager.

Supervision Received
Reports directly to the Research Chair to ensure priorities are addressed. Consults the Program Manager for guidance. Results reviewed monthly for achievement of overall objectives.

Supervision Given
May help supervise undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
