Job Summary

The successful applicant will work as a research assistant in the Neuroscience, Engagement and Smart Tech (NEST) Lab (located at BC Children’s Hospital, Principal Investigator: Julie Robillard) and will contribute to an interdisciplinary research project that explores the use of technology in the prevention, treatment, and care of brain disorders across the life span, with areas of focus in mental health and dementia. Our applied research aims to inform the development of technology in a way that maximizes the benefits and minimizes harms for end-users and their caregivers.

Organizational Status

The Research Assistant reports directly to the Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Julie Robillard. The applicant will work with other researchers, clinicians, graduate students and staff.

Work Performed
- Reads and annotates existing literature on topics related to technology for brain health;
- Assists in the development of an interview study exploring experiences and impact of brain health technology from the perspectives of technology developers, end-users, their families and caregivers;
- Assists in the development of the qualitative methodology carried out in the study
- Assists in the data collection process of the study including conducting interviews with participants;
- Assists with the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data obtained from the study;
- Develops and implement knowledge translation activities such as posters and articles;
- Attend and participate in laboratory meetings, seminars, and other academic events.
- Carries out any other related duties as required

Supervision Received

Works under general supervision in carrying out duties and responsibilities; receives instructions during orientation and on subsequent new assignments or changes in procedures.

Supervision Given

In collaboration with the PI will be responsible for delegating tasks as appropriate to research staff and student involved in the research.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
