Description:

Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for directing all activities of the maintenance function to ensure the highest levels of productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service at the lowest cost. Co-ordinate all resources to safely ensure maintenance schedules are attained in a timely manner. Directly supervises 2 Maintenance Supervisors, 1 Maintenance Planner, and 1 Maintenance Purchaser. Location - Guelph, ON.


Responsibilities:

Standardize and Optimize Operations

  • Direct all activities of the regional maintenance department including maintenance of regional equipment, facilities, and utilities (i.e. CO2, steam) and related planning to ensure the highest levels of productivity, efficiency, quality, and customer service at the lowest cost
  • Establish a maintenance work process system including work identification, planning, scheduling, execution and follow-up. Integrate a compliance measurement system, parts and supplies purchasing, inventory control, service contracts, resource allocation, and training to optimize the entire maintenance system
  • Ensure a safe and healthy workplace that encourages high levels of performance supported by an environment of coaching and feedback; identify and correct unsafe practices. Work with Health and Safety to establish and implement new or revised processes, as necessary
  • Ensure metrics are in-place to track and monitor performance; work collaboratively with Corporate Operations to establish, implement, and standardize metrics; communicate key metrics to all department personnel; and implement corrective actions to address identified gaps.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained to meet target efficiency and reliability standards
  • Provide input to new maintenance equipment selection, design, layout and installation
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed for quality, safety, and collective agreements
  • Lead and/or support strategic continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead or oversee regional maintenance related projects including setting standards, managing timelines, resourcing, and outcomes
  • Manage maintenance shutdown process for region
  • Act as a key liaison for and ensure compliance with municipal and provincial government regulatory issues related to the site
  • Maintain adherence to quality and food safety program standards to ensure food safety, quality and legal requirements are being met

Business Planning

  • Contribute to the development of the brewery vision in support of the overall vision, mission and values
  • Develop an annual action plan including strategies, activities and resources for the Maintenance function that support the brewery vision.
  • Provide input to long term process improvements and planning
  • Participate in the national capital expenditure process to allocate funding on a priority basis to meet regional maintenance objectives and provide support to implement capital initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate Technical function to identify gaps and improve systems

Budgeting and Financial Management

  • Develop and ensure work is performed within parameters of annual budgets for Maintenance.
  • Work with staff to track and monitor financial performance throughout the year using the LE process.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary in Science, Engineering or other related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years of food manufacturing experience in a maintenance department, including at least 3 years of management experience
  • Knowledge of brewing industry considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices
  • Leadership skills to oversee work of staff in multi-disciplinary functions
  • Ability to drive change using a defined change management process
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to create reports and deliver presentations
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to build internal and external relationships and customer focus
  • Working knowledge in the areas of food safety, quality, and quality assurance considered an asset
  • Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio); excel at an intermediated level considered an asset. Experience using and ERP system (e.g. Oracle) considered an asset
  • Knowledge of related local, provincial and federal legislation, regulations and standards including MOL, MOE, TSSA, ESA, CFIA.

Work Conditions:

Responsabilités:

Uniformiser et optimiser les opérations

  • Diriger toutes les activités du service de maintenance régional, notamment la maintenance de l'équipement, des installations et des commodités (c'est-à-dire le CO2, la vapeur) et la planification qui en découle, pour permettre de fournir le niveau le plus élevé de productivité, d'efficience, de qualité et de service à la clientèle, et ce, au moindre coût;
  • Mettre en place un processus de travail de maintenance qui comprend l'identification des travaux, la planification, l'ordonnancement, l'exécution et le suivi; intégrer un système de mesure de la conformité, l'achat de pièces et de fournitures, le contrôle de l'inventaire, les contrats de service, l'affectation de ressources et la formation afin d'optimiser l'ensemble du système de maintenance;
  • S'assurer que le milieu de travail soit sécuritaire et sain et favorise un rendement optimal, tout en assurant un encadrement et en offrant une rétroaction; identifier et éliminer les pratiques dangereuses; collaborer avec le service de santé et de sécurité pour établir et mettre en œuvre des processus nouveaux ou révisés, au besoin.
  • S'assurer que les mesures sont en place pour faire le suivi de la performance; collaborer avec les opérations globales pour élaborer, mettre en œuvre et uniformiser les mesures; communiquer les mesures clé à tout le personnel du service; et mettre en œuvre des actions correctives pour combler les lacunes;
  • Assurer la maintenance de l'équipement afin d'atteindre les objectifs d'efficacité et de fiabilité;
  • Contribuer à la sélection, à la conception, à la disposition et à l'installation de nouveaux équipements de maintenance;
  • S'assurer que toutes les politiques et procédures en matière de qualité, de sécurité et de conventions collectives soient respectées;
  • Diriger et/ou soutenir les initiatives stratégiques d'amélioration continue;
  • Diriger ou superviser les projets régionaux liés à la maintenance, notamment en établissant des normes, en gérant les délais, les ressources et les résultats;
  • Gérer le processus d'arrêt pour maintenance pour la région;
  • Agir à titre d'agent de personne-ressource pour les questions de réglementation des gouvernements municipaux et provinciaux liées au site et veiller à leur respect;
  • Maintenir le respect des normes du programme de qualité et de sécurité alimentaire afin de s'assurer que la sécurité alimentaire, la qualité et les exigences légales sont respectées;

Planification des activités

  • Contribuer à l'élaboration de la vision de la brasserie à l'appui de la vision, de la mission et des valeurs de l'entreprise;
  • Élaborer un plan d'action annuel qui comprend les stratégies, les activités et les ressources pour la maintenance qui soutiennent la vision de la brasserie;
  • Contribuer à l'amélioration et à la planification des processus à long terme;
  • Participer au processus national de gestion des dépenses en capital afin de classer l'allocation des fonds selon les priorités, de manière à atteindre les objectifs de maintenance régionaux et de contribuer à la mise en œuvre d'initiatives d'investissement;
  • Travailler en collaboration avec les services techniques de l'entreprise pour identifier les lacunes et améliorer les systèmes.

Gestion du budget et du volet financier

  • S'assurer que le travail est effectué selon les paramètres des budgets annuels pour la maintenance;
  • Travailler avec le personnel pour suivre et surveiller les performances financières tout au long de l'année en utilisant le processus d'estimation.

Exigences:

  • Études postsecondaires en sciences, ingénierie ou autre discipline connexe;
  • Au moins 7 ans d'expérience au sein du service de maintenance d'une entreprise de fabrication de produits alimentaires, dont au moins 3 ans en gestion;
  • Des connaissances de l'industrie brassicole seraient considérées comme un atout;
  • Connaissances pratiques des règles de bonne pratique de fabrication;
  • Compétences en leadership pour superviser le travail du personnel dans des fonctions multidisciplinaires;
  • Capacité à favoriser le changement à l'aide d'un processus défini de gestion du changement;
  • Aptitude à communiquer efficacement, tant à l'écrit qu'à l'oral ; capacité à rédiger des rapports et à faire des présentations;
  • Entregent avec la capacité d'établir des liens à l'interne et à l'externe, et orientation client;
  • Des connaissances pratiques des domaines de la sécurité alimentaire, de la qualité et de l'assurance qualité seraient considérées comme un atout;
  • Compétences informatiques avec capacité à utiliser des logiciels tels que Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) ; des connaissances intermédiaires de Excel seraient considérées comme un atout. De l'expérience d'un système ERP (p. ex. Oracle) serait considérée comme un atout;
  • Connaissance de la législation, des règlements et des normes locales, provinciales et fédérales connexes, y compris le ministère du Travail, le ministère de l'Environnement, la CNTS, l'ACIA.
