About The Role

Payroll and Benefits key accountabilities


  • Maintain and update employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave, benefit entitlements, and record site changes in Bamboo HR.
  • Follow-up with employees between the onboarding package distribution and start date to ensure all new hires are added to the system correctly.
  • Register new employees and maintain Employee Time Portal.
  • Follow-up with hourly employees prior to start date to ensure they are set up in the Employee Time Portal and HRIS completely before start date.
  • Notify People & Culture department of employee site changes, based on timesheets entries.
  • Register eligible employees for company benefits and distribute the Benefit Summary, LifeWorks, and company benefit booklets, claims and online services information.
  • Maintain the LifeWorks account (add and remove employees).
  • Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, garnishments, and insurance and RRSP plans.
  • Prepare, verify, and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay.
  • Complete, verify and process forms and documents for administration of benefits such as RRSP plans, leave, employment and medical insurance.
  • Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements (T4 and T2200), BC EHT, WorkSafe BC Form 7 claims, Records of Employment, and other statements.
  • Prepare bi-weekly overtime reports, monthly project labour reports, monthly total-hours safety reports, and monthly site payroll AR reports.
  • Remit BC EHT, WorkSafe BC, CRA, and RSP within the deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.

Accounting key accountabilities

  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Provide additional support to the wider finance team, inclusive of cross training with payable and receivable duties to support team absences.



About You

  • Solid knowledge of payroll compliance, basic accounting principles and accounting functions is required.
  • 2+ years minimum payroll experience preferred.
  • This position requires general knowledge of BC and Federal Employment Standards and WorkSafe BC insurance.
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) accreditation is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
  • Ability to accurately work under pressure in meeting deadlines.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.
  • Must adhere to a strict code of conduct regarding confidentiality. Must keep confidential matters related to salaries, wages, personal information, medical issues, disciplinary actions, terminations for cause, and any other privileged employee information

The compensation range for this role is $55,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on candidate experience and qualifications.
